Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) is a specialized application of flow cytometry. This technique makes it possible to separate a heterogeneous mixture, cell by cell, based on each cell’s individual light-scattering and fluorescence properties. Multiple cell populations of interest can be isolated simultaneously using the various available sorting channels. Depending on the level of purity desired, different sorting modes may be used. In particular, the Single Cell mode enables the isolation of a single cell per well, notably in 96-well microplates.

The Aurora CS instrument is a spectral cytometer with the capability to measure the full emission spectra of fluorochromes or fluorescent probes excited by all the lasers installed on the instrument. Our Aurora is equipped with three lasers (Violet/405, Blue/488, and Red/640 nm excitation wavelength), three diffusion channels (FSC and SSC on the Blue and Violet lasers), and 38 fluorescence channels.

Our CytoFLEX S is a conventional flow cytometer equipped with three excitation lasers (Violet/405, Blue/488, and Yellow-Green/561 nm excitation wavelengths). It features three scatter channels (FSC and SSC on the blue and violet lasers) as well as six fluorescence channels, with two detectors per laser. The instrument is equipped with 13 repositionable bandpass filters, allowing the optical configuration to be easily adapted to experimental requirements. A 96-well plate loader is integrated, offering the ability to perform automated acquisitions at higher throughput. Thanks to its high sensitivity, the CytoFLEX S also enables absolute particle counting, making it particularly versatile for numerous cytometry applications.
